Requirements: Beginning in the fall of a student’s sophomore year, students with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and a 3.5 GPA in their art classes, along with an overall good academic standing, will be notified of their eligibility to apply for membership into NAHS. The nominee will complete a membership form, submit teacher recommendations, and be evaluated on artistic ability, character, and commitment to the visual arts. Students will be notified of selection by letter.
The criteria for selection into NAHS are based on:
Art Scholarship – Demonstrating skill and dedication in the visual arts.
Character – Showing responsibility, honesty, and respect in and out of the classroom.
Leadership – Taking initiative in art-related activities and inspiring others through creativity.
Service – Using artistic talents to benefit the school and community.
Club Dues: $8.00
Mission, Goal, or Purpose: To inspire and recognize students who have shown outstanding ability and dedication in the visual arts. NAHS members work to promote art within the school and community, while gaining opportunities for artistic growth, service, leadership and volunteering.
Activities/Projects: NAHS participates in school and community service projects such as creating murals, helping with art exhibits, assisting at school events, volunteering in the community, and fundraising for art-related causes. Members may also have the opportunity to showcase their work, apply for scholarships, and attend art-related events.
Other Information: The National Art Honor Society is a nationally recognized organization that celebrates artistic excellence and service. Membership highlights a student’s creativity, leadership, and commitment to the arts, making it both an honor and a valuable experience for future endeavors.
